The Tampa Bay Rays will head up to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Seattle Mariners for Game one of their three-Game set this Friday from T-Mobile Park.

Rays Betting Preview

Tampa Bay comes in at 56-28 after taking two of three from Arizona. The Rays bounced back from a Game one loss to take the final two contests, and they’ll look to close the road trip strong this weekend. The Tampa offense is scoring 5.13 runs per Game, while batting .263, with a .338 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.71 ERA, with a 1.21 WHIP. Yandy Diaz collected three hits in the Game two win, and he leads Tampa in batting (.318), with 38 RBI. Randy Arozarena remains first on the team in RBI (54), despite a quiet series in the desert. Jose Siri has homered in three of the last five Games to take the team-lead in home runs at 15.

Shane McClanahan (11-1, 2.23 ERA, 100 Ks) will take the mound for Tampa. The ace of staff had an uncharacteristic start against Kansas City, only going 3.2 innings, and allowing two runs. The short appearance snapped McClanahan’s four-start win streak, and after allowing two runs or less in eight of his last ten outings, he’s more than likely to put last week’s performance behind him.

Mariners Betting Preview

Seattle enters at 38-41 after dropping two of three to Washington. The Mariners have only managed to win three of their last nine Games, and they face an uphill battle this weekend with Tampa Bay. The Seattle offense is scoring 4.29 runs per Game, while batting .227, with a .308 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.55 ERA, with a 1.19 WHIP. Teoscar Hernandez went yard in the Game two loss, and he leads Seattle in home runs (15), with RBI (46). Ty France plated a run in the Game one win, and he leads Seattle in hits (84), with splits of .276/7/35. Eugenio Suarez homered in the same contest, and he now holds the team-lead in RBI (47).

Bryce Miller (5-3, 3.88 ERA, 49 Ks) will start for Seattle. The rookie pitcher had a short outing in Baltimore last weekend, as he was pulled after 4.1 innings and three runs allowed. Despite the tough road contest last weekend, Miller has been pretty reliable at home this season, as four of his first five appearances in Seattle have resulted in quality starts, with him allowing no more than one run in those four spots.

Tampa vs Seattle Trends

Tampa Bay is 46-38 against the spread this season, with a 46-34-4 O/U record. Seattle is 37-42 ATS this year, with a 39-38-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Seattle just isn’t doing much at the plate right, and with one of the best pitchers in baseball set to go for Tampa, it’s unlikely they will turn things around here. Shane McClanahan has been as good as advertised, and he’ll be coming off of his shortest outing of the season here, and there’s a good chance he avenged that performance against an inconsistent Mariners lineup. Let’s lean on Tampa here in Game one, and give the low Over a look in the primetime slot.
