X reacts as spineless Man Utd slump to shocking defeat to Nottingham Forest
Well, it was nice while it lasted.
The mood around Manchester United was one of cautious optimism heading into Saturday's clash with Nottingham Forest. The recent comeback victory over Aston Villa felt like a turning point - evidence that this side was capable of the spectacular under Erik ten Hag.
The Forest Game was spectacular in its own right... just for all the wrong reasons.
The first half made for tough watching. Forest started brightest and kept United at arm's length with ease, with the Red Devils struggling to even get shots away.
Antony is one of the biggest flops of the season, can’t think of anyone else worse #ManUtd

Forest first to it, drops to a forest player, these players just do not work hard enough. Sit way too deep, it’s too easy, too safe. So BORING

Not had a shot yet 😂

Nottingham forest vs Manchester United, 25 minutes of play and Manchester United has no goal attempt, no shot on goal yet, and its appears to me that United aren't serious in today's Game!

Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Dave Brailsford sat alongside each other in the directors’ box at the City Ground.
— Alex Turk (@AlexCTurk) December 30, 2023
Brailsford perched in the seat behind John Murtough like the Grim Reaper.
32 minutes in and Aaron Wan-Bissaka provided the tamest shot on target imaginable, and yet it was still the highlight of a first half which felt like both sides were playing FIFA against the younger cousin your parents ask you take it easy on.
30 minutes, 0 attempt and our first shot come from Wan Bissaka. LOL

Just a single shot after 38 minutes😕😕#NFOMUN

Rashford stinking it up at CF and Anthony being his useless self on the right...it's painful to watch, man

Shortly after the hour mark, Forest took a deserved lead.
Gonzalo Montiel strolled forwards and cut the ball back to Nicolas Dominguez, who could hardly believe how open he was in the penalty area before sweeping beyond the helpless Andre Onana.
Dominguez was literally all by himself for a solid 5/6 seconds there, no one bothered to pick him up 😂

Nahhhh look at this defending. How can you have that much time to turn completely unmarked, then find another guy in the box also completely unmarked😭

Please, today is my birthday. Ratcliffe, sack this man today. Please. 🙏🏽 #ManUtd @ManUtd

It always felt like United were going to need some help to get back into this game, and that's exactly how it worked out.
Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner's kicking had been awful all night and culminated with a shocking pass which gifted United possession. Alejandro Garnacho squared for Marcus Rashford, who curled the ball into the bottom corner to tie things up.
Rashford's purple patch begins today.

To be on the same pitch as Andre Onana and still be the worst goalkeeper is quite some achievement. Congratulations Matt Turner.

So.... Matt Turner isn't great with his feet

Four minutes later, however, the fun was over.
Morgan Gibbs-White strolled towards the edge of the penalty area, seemingly creating his own forcefield which propelled all United defenders away from him before firing into the back of the net.
Gibbs white banged that

Few could have any complaints about the result. While United did have more possession and more shots, they were simply awful going forwards.
The verdict was unanimous. Time for Ten Hag to go.
Well, the "Ratcliffe era" lasted long did'nt it? #ManUtd #NOFMAN

Time to sack the manager.

Sack Ten Hag. We can’t employ a manager that consistently jeopardises himself
